Italian FM Tajani:

«The Balkans should not become the new Libya. They are very close to us, are crossed by important migratory flows and are objects of interest and influence by non-allied powers. We need to oversee the situation to strengthen democracy in those countries and prevent the worsening of new crises between Serbia and Kosovo: the situation in Ukraine makes these nations even more unstable". This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, interviewed today by the Italian newspaper "Libero".

«Montenegro, Albania and Serbia are on the waiting list to join the European Union. We need to speed up the integration process, to prevent them from entering the sphere of influence of non-EU countries. An European effort is needed and Italy can play a role as a leading country», the Minister added.

A commitment which, in the case of Kosovo, cannot be resolved only through the leading role within the KFOR mission. "We are organizing a business forum to bring our companies to the country and put them in a position to work," FM Tajani said.
