Minister Tajani calls Premier Kurti and President Vučić: “Appeal for moderation, Italy committed to the Balkans”

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, had phone conversations with the Kosovar Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, and the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, to appeal for calm and restraint. It was Tajani himself who stated it in a tweet: “I heard from Serbian President Vucic and Kosovar PM Kurti to whom I assured our commitment to stability in the Balkans. Having informed Presidency of the Council of Ministers, we count on their leadership calling for moderation and against unilateral action. Italy is leading actor for peace”.

In a following interview on TG1, the Italian Minister said that “the unilateral initiatives of the two countries are of little use”, recalling that “we have 700 Italian soldiers present in that area who are peacekeepers and we intend to play a role in stabilizing the Balkans as a great country protagonist of history in relations between the Balkans, the West and Europe”.
