The Embassy of Italy to Kosovo promotes and disseminates the Italian language and culture throughout the country by organising cultural events, supporting exchange programs between Universities, promoting the learning of the Italian language and providing scholarships for Master's degrees studies at Italian Universities. This happens in synergy with Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Tirana, also responsible for Kosovo, as well as different Universities, Institutions, Organisations and other Italian and Kosovar players.
Cultural offer
Numerous cultural events are offered throughout Kosovo, e.g. during the Italian Language Week and the Italian Cuisine Week, on the Italian Design Day and on the Science Day. Film forums, exhibitions, conferences, as well as theater, opera and music performances are offered in cooperation with leading Kosovo's cultural institutions. For up-to-date information, have a look at the institutional website homepage, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Learning Italian language
Italian is offered as a foreign language at the "Hasan Pristhtina" University, where the Italian Foreign Ministry Farnesina supports a Lettorato di Italiano; Italian can also be learned at the UP's Language Centre, open also to people not belonging to University.
In some cities there are private schools specialised in teaching Italian (in Pristina, for example, the "Centro Dante" and the “Britannica ELT").
School's pupils from primary to high school can learn Italian as a curricular subject at the "Don Bosko" school in Pristina and, on an experimental basis, at the "Odhise Paskali" and "Bedri Pejani" high schools in Peja.
Italian Library
The "Biblioteca Italiana" of the University "Hasan Prishtina" is open for lending also to residents of the city: here the books catalogue, here that of DVDs.
