Visa for family reunification with a person residing in Italy who is not an Italian or EU citizen

The visa for family reunification with a person residing in Italy who is not Italian or EU citizen, allows entry to Italy for a person who has fulfilled the legal requirements for family reunification pursuant to the legislation in force in Italy. The persons entitled to this right are:

– spouse, not legally separated, and aged 18 or over;

– natural or adopted children, including those of the spouse, who were minors at the date of the request for authorization (“Nulla Osta”);

– parents who do not have other children in their country of origin, or parents over the age of 65 whose other children are unable to support them for documented and serious health reasons;

– dependent adult children (over the age of 18), in the case they cannot provide for their essential living needs due to their health conditions, leading to total disability.

Any citizen of Kosovo who applies for an entry visa to Italy for family reunification should apply for a visa in person at the Visa Desk of the Italian Embassy in Pristina on the scheduled day and time, in order to submit to the staff “the visa application form”, fulfilled in capital letters, with two photographs in accordance with ICAO standards.

The following documents should be attached to the visa application with their photocopies:

1. Passport expiring at least 3 months after the requested visa;

2. Authorization (“Nulla Osta”) for family reunification, issued by the Immigration Office (“Sportello Unico per l’Immigrazione”) no later than six months before submitting the application;

3. Photocopy of the valid Italian residence permit/card;

4. Civil status documents proving the family relationship with the citizen residing in Italy:

– family reunification with spouse in Italy: marriage certificate issued by their Municipality, dated no earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina;

– family reunification with parent: birth certificate, issued by the Municipality, dated no earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina (“Departamenti i Gjendjes Civile i Ministrisë së Punëve të Brendshme”);

– family reunification with child: birth certificate of the child, issued by their Municipality, dated no earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina;

5. Family status certification, issued by the Municipality of residence of the applicant, dated no earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina;

N.B.: All family members residing in Kosovo should be listed in this document.

*** Family reunification of the minor child with the parent residing in Italy: minors traveling alone should also be provided with the definitive expatriation consent of the parent who remains in Kosovo, issued and signed in front of the Visa Officer at this Embassy or by a notary;

*** Family reunification of a parent with a child residing in Italy: pension credits (if the applicant is a pensioner), employment contract (if the applicant is a worker), unemployment certificate (if the applicant is unemployed); certificate of residence of the children in Kosovo, issued by their Municipality as well as copies of residence permits (if any children live abroad).
