Tourism in Kosovo

Kosovo is an emerging tourist destination and has been experiencing a steady increase in the number of visitors in recent years. According to data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, in the first eight months of 2024, the number of foreign visitors rose by 12% compared to 2023 and by 41% compared to 2022. This increase can be attributed to several factors, including enhanced tourism promotion and the organization of international events.

The youngest country in Europe offers visitors a blend of warm hospitality, archaeological, artistic, and cultural heritage, as well as natural attractions, with its mountainous landscapes, historical centers, waterfalls, and ancient religious buildings.

Main Attractions

Pristina: The capital is a vibrant and dynamic city. Key attractions include:

  • The Cathedral of Saint Teresa
  • The National Library
  • The Emin Pasha Mosque

Prizren: Known for its well-preserved historical center, it is famous for its Ottoman architecture and the International documentary and short film Festival “DokuFest”.

Gjakova: Renowned for its traditional markets and historical architecture, it offers an authentic experience of local culture.

Peja: Rich in natural beauty, it is the gateway to Rugova National Park and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Deçan Monastery.

Cultural Heritage and Attractions

Gracanica and Deçan Monasteries: Both recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites, they are significant examples of Serbian medieval architecture.

Sinan Pasha Mosque: An important Ottoman mosque located in Prizren.

Ulpiana Archaeological Park: An archaeological site that provides insight into the ancient history of the region, located ten kilometers from the capital Pristina.
