The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, reiterated his country support to the strengthening of democracy and the European prospect of Kosovo, in a message to the Kosovan counterpart, Vjosa Osmani, sent on the occasion of the fourteen anniversary of the Balkan country’s independence.
“On the back of the friendship and closeness which unifies our countries, Italy will continue to support Kosovo in its efforts to consolidate democratic institutions, in the context of a European perspective that we hope will be every day more tangible. In this spirit, we will keep working to bring Kosovo and its civil society to Europe, in particular the young generations”, President Mattarella wrote in its message, made public by the Presidency of the Kosovan Republic.
The Head of the State added that Italy will continue to be on the front line to defend peace and security in the Balkans. “This is proven by our role within the NATO mission, KFOR, which we will continue to guarantee without any distraction.”, Mattarella assured.
