Amb. De Riu on RTK: “EU measures reversible, designed to encourage de-escalation. Immediately return to Dialogue”

The measures adopted by the EU are reversible and designed to encourage the governments of Belgrade and Pristina to implement what has been agreed upon for the normalization of relations. This was stated by the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo, Antonello De Riu, regarding the measures implemented by Brussels towards Pristina. “These measures have been taken to encourage the parties to fulfill their commitments. In the case of Kosovo, it is essential that they commit to de-escalation, with the holding of new elections in the northern municipalities and return to the negotiating table”, De Riu said. The Ambassador was visiting the public broadcaster “RTK” yesterday, where he had a meeting with the management. In a statement to journalists on the sidelines of the visit, De Riu clarified that once Kosovo takes steps towards the establishment of the Association of Serb-majority municipalities, if Serbia fails to fulfill the commitments made, the European Union could also take measures against Serbia. The Ambassador also reiterated the request to reduce tensions in the north through the plan outlined by Brussels.
