The creative ability behind any product in our everyday life use (bags, jackets, dresses and clothes, rings, cars), the quality of materials and production processes, combined with a strong artisanal and innovation component – especially in the use of new materials – are the main features which make Design one of the most iconic symbols of the Italian image and lifestyle.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has placed Design at the core of its international promotion of the “Brand Italy” through the “Italian Design Day”. It is an event that, on an annual basis, involves our diplomatic network in 100 Countries around the world, through the organization of a rich program of events to promote the values of Design and its industrial sector abroad, involving Institutions, business associations, companies, communities of designers and well-established design professionals.
We are very pleased to announce that, for the first time since its inception in 2017, Pristina is one of the 100 cities in the world that will host the Italian Design Day 2022 (IDD2022), a significant result made possible by the brilliant teamwork carried out together with ITA-Italian Trade Promotion Agency, the Government body that helps the MFA to expand the presence of our companies in the foreign markets.
The launch event is scheduled on 22 March, 2022 and it envisages the participation of the Kosovar Minister of Culture, the Minister of Trade and Industry and the Mayor of Pristina, together with Archistar Carlo Ratti, designer of the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020, and Dr. Daniele Belleri, well-known in Kosovo for being curators at Manifesta14 Pristina, the biennial exhibition of contemporary art and urban design planned here from July to October 2022.
Starting from the Italian Design Day, we intend to encourage interactions and collaborations between the Italian and Kosovar Institutions and communities of creatives, proving the positive impact of Design both on the business of Italian manufacturers and of those, among the local entrepreneurs, who choose Italian design products affirming themselves successfully on the local and Balkan area markets.
We will also be talking about the Salone del Mobile, the global benchmark for the Home Furnishing and Design Sector, to be held on 7-12 June 2022 in Milan, which celebrates its 60th anniversary and will be filled with a wide range of aesthetically pleasing high quality and well-researched products and we will dedicate a focus to the projects envisaged during Manifesta14, one of the most important events on contemporary art and urban Design, to be held for the first time in the Balkans, in Pristina, Kosovo!
Under the leading theme “Re-generation, design and new technologies for a sustainable future” we intend to attest the contribution of Design in improving our daily lives, from the use of environmentally friendly products, to the solutions for living a healthier life in our city, Pristina, engaging both producers and customers in the choice of renewable materials, promoting reuse and recycling.
The Italian Design Day does not end there.
We have established partnerships with a number of major players in the large-scale retailers around the Country, with whom we will continue to celebrate the IDD2020 through promotional activities of “Made in Italy” Design products in several points of purchase with installations and dedicated spaces, and social media channels, offering the best of Italian production in the most diverse sectors: interior furnishings, household items, glasses, clothing and accessories, cosmetics, lifestyle.
From the Albi Mall and Bottega Leather in Pristina, to Abi Qarshia and Casa Italia in Prizren, to Gacaferri Mobili in Peja, we will offer the best of Italian Design we can find in Kosovo.
