“Italy supports the European Union’s efforts to find a solution that aims at normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, but our role is also important in the framework of the NATO Mission that our country has led 13 times out of 27, with a military contingent of almost 800 men”. This was said by the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo, Antonello De Riu, on the side-lines of the annual meeting of the Italian Ambassadors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “This is the major contribution, also in terms of resources, that Italy devotes to peace and stability in this problematic area of the Balkans”, De Riu underlined. Furthermore, from an economic point of view, Italy “is one of the main partners of Kosovo and, also thanks to the renewed activism announced by Minister Tajani, there is the intention to booster economic relations between the two countries, to encourage and enhance the interests of our companies”. ”My task – he added – is to convince our entrepreneurs to come to Kosovo, an area which has always been considered problematic, but which has good opportunities”.
