Equivalency of Degrees
Foreign degrees are not automatically recognized in Italy.
Foreign citizens, interested in the recognition of the equality of value and effectiveness (“Equipollenza”) of their degrees obtain in Kosovo can submit an application directly to the competent Authorities in Italy (Ministries, Universities).
Declaration of Value
The “Dichiarazione di Valore” (Declaration of Value) is a document attesting to the value of a degree or professional qualification obtained in an educational system other than the Italian one. It is written in Italian and issued by the Italian Diplomatic Representations abroad (Embassies/Consulates) with territorial jurisdiction.
Requirements for Requesting the Declaration of Value
The Declaration of Value must be requested at this Consular Office directly by the interested party, presenting himself/herself after booking the appointment online.
The request for Declaration of Value requires the following documents:
1. The following application form duly completed, together with a copy of a valid document of identification of the interested person (passport/ID card). In the event that the interested person is not present in the Kosovo territory and therefore cannot personally appear at the Consular Office, he/she must fill in the above application form in its entirety, indicating the personal data and telephone number of the person who can deliver/collect his/her documentation. The original application must be sent to the delegate to present it at the Counter.
2. Educational qualification for which the Declaration of value is requested:
a. original high school diploma translated into Italian and authenticated with an Apostille;
b. original Degree diploma translated into Italian and authenticated with an Apostille;
The documentation must be accompanied by a copy of all material submitted, including stamps. The copy must be legible and totally true and coincident with all the documentation delivered.
In case of application for Declaration of Value for study purposes:
a.continuation of school and university studies;
b.enrollment at Italian Universities;
The above mentioned documentation must also be accompanied by the documentation proving this reason, conditional registration at the school/academic institution, enrollment/registration payment receipt and/or first installment, in order to be issued free of charge.
In case of a request for Declaration of Value for unspecified reasons, issuance is upon payment of consular fees.
The Italian Embassy may avail itself of the 60 days provided by the current regulations for the issuance of the Declaration of value. These terms will be suspended if this Office deems it appropriate to proceed with certain verification with the local competent authorities. The applicant will be informed of this suspension.
