Visa for a family member accompanying an EU citizen

The visa for a family member accompanying an EU citizen allows entry into Italy to a person who is a family member of an EU citizen residing in Italy pursuant to Legislative Decree 30/2007. The persons entitled to this right are:

– Spouse;

– Partner who has celebrated the marriage with an EU citizen and has transcribed it in one of the EU countries;

– Direct descendants of the spouse or partner, under the age of 21, or their dependents;

– Direct ascendants of the spouse or partner, depending on them.

Any citizen of Kosovo who applies for a visa to enter Italy as an accompanying family member of an Italian or EU citizen residing in Italy, should apply for a visa in person at the Visa Desk of the Italian Embassy in Pristina on the scheduled day and time, in order to submit to the staff “the visa application form”, fulfilled in capital letters, with two photographs in accordance with ICAO standards.

The following documents should be attached to the visa application with their photocopies:

1. Passport expiring at least 3 months after the requested visa;

2. Copy of the marriage transcription of the Municipality of residence of the spouse in Italy;

3. Certification of Italian residency in original, filled in all its parts, dated and signed by the inviting person;

4. Photocopy of the EU citizen’s identity card;

5. Cumulative certificate (residence, citizenship, civil status), in original, issued by the Municipality of residence of the EU citizen, dated not earlier than six months;

6. Civil status documents proving the relationship with the Italian citizen:

– Spouse: marriage certificate issued by their Municipality, dated no earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina (“Departamenti i Gjendjes Civile i Ministrisë së Punëve të Brendshme”);

– Parent: birth certificate, issued by their Municipality, dated no earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina;

– Child: birth certificate of child issued by their Municipality, dated no earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina;

7. Family status certification, issued by the Municipality of residence of the applicant, dated not earlier than six months, legalized by the Civil Status Department in Pristina.

N.B.: This document must report the actual family status, notwithstanding the fact that there are other family members who do not have to go to Italy.

*** Minor child accompanying the parent who is an EU citizen, residing in Italy: minors travelling alone must also be in possession of the final expatriation consent of the parent who remains in Kosovo, issued and signed in front of the Visa Officer at this Embassy or by a notary.

** Parent accompanying an EU citizen (son/daughter), residing in Italy: pension credits (if the applicant is a pensioner), employment contract (if the applicant is working), unemployment certificate (if the applicant is unemployed); certificate of residence of the children in Kosovo, issued by their Municipality as well as copies of residence permits (if any children live abroad).
